Loyal? The dog was lost and starving, the guy gave it a meatball. Unsurprisingly the starving dog then followed them! A dog is only 'loyal' to the source of its last free meal. Now I know every dog owner anthropomorphically projects, and thinks their dog loves them, but sorry, they don't, they love food.
