Quick update..called the pound, apparently the owner called them back but never came to collect her!!! She is off to the rescue place tomorrow.

Why anyone would not want her is beyond me,but if anyone wants a soft Rottie in Blackpool.....
smile
Maybe it's fate and the dog should be a new member of your family?

I don't want to be harsh here but that dog will be PTS in about a week if you don't go collect her.....

I know, and it is a horrible thought. Even though she was as soft as anything with us, I bet anyone seeing a Rottie in kennels will just walk on by.

I really would take her if I could, but we already have 2 dogs, and SWMBO really does not like big dogs( she was bitten by one as a kid)
I just hope someone takes her.

I guess it depends which rescue centre she goes to. A lot of places won't put a dog to sleep unless it is ill or can't be rehomed due to an overly aggressive nature. You see dogs which stay at the same centres for months, if not years.

Dog pounds usually have a 7 day cut off. It tends to be local run rescues that will visit the pound and see which ones they can take they are most likely to be able to rehome, these dogs tend nor too face euthanasia unless for a specific reason. Very depressing.

As I understand it, she's already served her time in the pound - she is being taken in by a rescue. A rescue wouldn't offer a place if they intended to put her to sleep.

She is one of the lucky ones - she has made it out of the pound.

She's a beautiful looking dog, I hope that she finds a loving new home.

Spoken to a friend who works for a rescue centre there, she says RSPCA is closed, they are closing soon, and are full anyway, and Blackpool has nowhere to put stray dogs,so I dont know if she will stay locally at all

Sticking my neck out here and I have no idea how the practicalities would work out but, OP, if you (a) get wind of a PTS situation, (b) have the option of stopping that and (c) have no other options, then please PM me. I'm in the South East, so I couldn't be much further away, but I do have some links to rescue organisations, and if means saving the dog I'd see whether I can step in, and even look to foster her at least.

Genuine post.

It'll also be put down in about a week if you don't go collect her.

Good, hope she's sorted, but my offer stands, I can definitely provide foster space, can work around transport, and will speak to some independent rescues down here if need be.

I deal with breed rescue for my own breed so unfortunately I am not in a position to have a Rottie.

Just been on the phone to the kennels to find out which rescue centre she went to,as it wasnt the one my friend is at, but they wont tell me!
Apparently the rescue organisations dont want them giving out details of where she went as they have had problems with owners who didnt pay the rescue fee getting them back from the organisation.
She said they work with "homeless hounds"(who dont have her on their website yet) but that she would probably have gone to Wigan or Warrington.

Thanks for the update. I guess if she has gone to rescue then she will be safe from PTS.

Probably unrelated, but there were recently five dogs found in Lytham, with the owner also apparently from Southport.

I don't know if you're on Facebook but it's here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lythamstannes/

One of the posts goes into detail.
