Latest update as it's been a couple of weeks.

He's now 17.7 kg and seemingly bigger by the day!

He has now been to two training classes and many walks down the park and other busy places and he pretty much for a puppy, is taking it all in his stride.

All in all it could not be better and here's an updated pic.

He has grown a lot in less than 4 months.

Sure has! The other week the vet said we need to feed him bigger portions as he's still a bit skinny....

Petplan for us, Covered for Life Classic.

They work best with our local vets and the policy covers conditions for life up to 7k a year I think, and is the best risk/reward/cost policy for us.

It's been a while but a recent German Shepherd thread prompted me for an update.

Bear will be 2 in January & he has always been a great dog & a major part of the family.

I give a lot of credit for this to my wife who went to training classes with him until just a few months ago. He's very well behaved & we can walk him off the lead with no problems. He comes running with us as well with no problems. We can even get him to poo on command.....

He is apprehensive in his nature & doesn't appreciate complete strangers approaching him directly, same for boisterous dogs. A small period of getting to know does the trick. Very much a Shepherd in this respect.

He is usually around the 41kg mark & eats a lot, but weirdly eats very slowly. A bowl of food will take about 10 minutes! Our other two dogs literally inhale their food in seconds.

Any way some pictures of a grown up Bear.

he looks a real character. He's a couple of months younger than my lad who is still quite slim due to his poor start and a terrible fussy eater. But he does like people provided they approach with respect but despite sharing his home with two other Dogs he really doesn't like meeting other Dogs when out on a walk.

Thanks all.

He's generally 41kg give or take a kilo either way. He's still fairly slim under all that hair so I think he'll fill out a bit at some stage, like we all do.

One thing I forgot to mention, he's only just started to cock his leg a month or so ago. A trait of the breed, GSDs take a while to mature.

Bobby is just two and still Pee's between his front legs most of the time but we know he is a bit behind in his development. They do lose an inch or so in height as the fill out . We had a rescue GSD some time ago and when we got her at 18 months she was so slim but 6 months later she had the deepest chest you could imagine and she turned into the most wonderful GSD.

He is stunning. I have always favoured collies but when we do get the time for a dog, a GSD is now top of my wish list.
