yeah its caused quite a bit of fuss. The Kennel Club facebook page has about 1000 comments about it and seen afew petitions to have the title taken off them and given to Dublin.

Seems she had been warned about lifting it like that numerous times. It says in your entry info not to do it but although its discouraged and not approved of it is still legal and apparently hot things are done in the US where the handler is from.
Well if she'd been warned they ought to have a three strikes and out rule.

Why would you lift a dog up by the tail anyway?

Americans certainly seem to have different ideas on dog appearances - I know Briards normally have their ears cropped in the US, but it is either outlawed here or not permitted for showing. I guess this applies to other breeds with similar ears?

I ave seen lots of scottie owners saying the lifting is fine as when the dog is working, grabbing stuff down holes then the tail is traditionally used to pull the dog back out with whatever prize in its mouth.
I certainly wouldnt want to try it with my Shepherd lol.
I (gently) got hold of my shepherd in the same way. to demo to the other half what all the fuss is about and the dog gave me a look that said "if you do what I think you are about to do I am going to bite your chuffing face off"

Plus the ahole that was photo'd throttling and punching his show Border collie in the car park outside the halls too...... he was named and shamed yet the organisers do nothing.

Now the tail lifting I cannot comment on as I know it is ok physically on some dogs (the rabbit hole scenario mentioned above) but punching a dog is indefensible except when being attacked and this person needs to have his dogs removed from him immediately.

Neck and tail...The Judges/officials asked her repeatedly not to keep doing it.
