It apparently 'fell' onto my gfs neck and she couldn't brush it off. I came home to a hysterical woman just out of the shower.
Generally I would have laughed but she was in a bad way.

Wouldn't fancy it stuck to me either tbh.

hehe er.... It's a lobster spider yeah?!! Have a photo of one of those perfectly camouflaged on a flower getting a bee (poor bee!)

Horrible things.

As that link says there are plenty here in Bristol.

I've become trained not to lean against stone walls etc as they will dash out when they think something has wandered close.

Makes me shudder just thinking about having one on me!

The trouble with spiders is that they are highly variable and many of them look very similar to start with!

You really need the specimen in your hand and magnification.

It probably explains why the only really useful UK spider id book runs to 3 or 4 volumes and costs £many hundreds.
