Since moving our cats have gone on a massive killing spree and seem to be trying to clear our little corner of the countryside of any small fauna. Huge number of birds varying wildly but including robins, woodpeckers, wood pigeons and even a crow!

Our eldest cat doesn't seem that bothered but our other two are unbelievable.

Today's offerings so far:-

Anyone else have killers in their midst?

The usual mice. Happily no rabbits for a few days.

Voles, mice, rats, rabbits, birds of various species, a neighbour's chicken, it's like the killing fields some mornings. ....

One of my neighbours told me their car had killed rabbits - I didn't think it would possible but obviously reading te replies its more common than I realised.

I am surprised that none of the cats have any signs of injury as I would have thought a rat would be able to put up quite a fight. My mrs thinks it looks too well groomed to be a wild rat and it worried one of the neighbours children may be missing their pet ratty lol

We used to get a lot of rats, the live ones were fun. But the catcher is getting on now so I think he does not bother much and the new one has not been taught properly by his mum so we hope we will avoid the birds. Thing is, we are on an estate but many people keep waste bags and bins outside along with the council green waste bins and compost heaps. Old ratty thinking he is getting a nice freebie so there are many around.

Saying that, the new one has a habit of bringing in moths, alive and without harm (apparently). There are some big buggers in the moth fraternity.

My size 10.5 hobnails for comparison.

yes it is, to the extent that the Tom cats on my Mothers farm get noticeably fat over the summer months as they eat loads of young rabbits.

Yup, one of ours was bringing home one every other day - to the extent that the puppy knew where she left them and would go and check it out whenever she went into the garden, and happily finish off whatever was left. A free lunch...

Tango hasn't been too much of a killer recently. Just two dead mice.

Live and kicking is his specialty and seeing as my missus is an animal lover we will do our best to save whatever he is playing with.

Saturday night we had a frog and a toad on the doorstep for him to play with. They ran off when he came in mind and it was wet enough that they would get to safety.

Couple of weeks back he had a rabbit that I returned to the woods our house backs onto.

Our cats bring in all sorts - not birds, but shrews, various mice, voles, rats, rabbits, and most recently a mole. God knows how they got at that.

2 chewed magpie heads. Went out to check the bush where the cats sleep as I had not seen them for a few hours, found their stash of headless magpies! Neither Moglet or Millie bother with birds as a rule but I was watching the magpies pecking Moglet's tail as he walked the fence the other day. Cheeky bds knew he could not turn round quick enough to get them..... they missed Millie stalking up the garden - POW! one magpie down and almost took Moglet out at the same time as she threw herself up the fence!

Usually if it flies, buzzes or crawls it won't last long if the cats see it!

So far this week: 3 shrews, 2.5 mice - not sure what happened to the top half of one of them, a smallish rabbit, and one unidentifiable bird. This is what happens with three cats and a rural location.

Jazzy doesn't bring nearly as much in as she used to; probably as she is now getting on a bit and can't catch them.

However we have had the usual mice in the lounge, mice on the doorstep, the odd small bird, dragon flies etc but the worst one was a live blackbird which was an absolute nightmare to catch and get out of the house as it could still fly; to a fashion.

I find it somewhat puzzling that you seem proud that your cat has killed off robins, woodpeckers and other wildlife. You should keep the damn thing indoors.

It's ok, you'll learn to stay out of threads that aren't for you soon.

Funnily enough I have been a member of other forums for years, I haven't learnt yet not to say so if I think someone says something dumb.
