our cat is a PITA when it comes to worming. we have tried syringes and they are better but still a problem, she wont take tablets in food etc so i think spot-on is the only way.

so i want one thats as broad spectrum as possible so it protects her as well as we can. can be prescription etc as i will go get the vet to write one

The main one is Profender, no reason to think it wouldn't work.

They still need worming with Advocate - just less frequently.

Try Milbemax tablets (small, from the vet) hidden in a squishy treat. Pill Pockets are good.

We check with the vet if we can crush and feed with a small amount of water from a syringe. One of ours is a bit feisty and this is the least stressful way.

Clasp top of cat's head, head back, open mouth, insert worming tablet, close mouth and stroke throat downwards - job done! Takes all of 5 seconds - cat wanders off completely oblivious

Gave up with the powders and meat flavoured ones, years ago, they never got eaten.

Some cats just don't do tablets (though very few defeat me if I'm honest! So for those that don't do tablets at home there is Profender!

We tried and failed miserably to get drontal tablets down ours when we first got him. The vet tried as well, bless her, and prescribed him profender instead biggrin

We've been successfully using profender spot on wormer now for the past 8 years combined with frontline flea treatment. We find that the profender is a bit greasy so you've just got to be careful about how it spreads. We deworm every 5-6 weeks as Rufus is a prolific hunter in the gardens and fields (moles, voles, huge rats and rabbits).

We did switch to advocate for three months as it looked like the frontline was starting to become less effective but it didn't seem to make much difference so we switched back.
