As this sorry tale further unfolds, I almost can't believe that any responsible rescue centre would award three completely unrelated cats into an environment that's new for all of them.
Oh I can. Probably CPL. rolleyes
The RSPCA would probably have deemed these three unsuitable for re-homing and destroyed them. I think the charity are doing the best they can with animals no one wants and the home bearman has offered them is certainly better than the needle!

Puss ate well again tonight cloud9 - the other 2 are eating like horses, so no worries about them.
Excellent - they'll be too fat / full / contented to actually bother catching any rats.
I look forward to you next arrivals....

I've just read all 10 pages and am glad things have turned out well for both Bearman and the cats.

Well it's been a busy cat time in the bearman household.

Fitted a cat flap on Sunday morning - as shown.

Then first thing Monday morning, I spotted this poor creature, clearly killed by cats.

And puss continues to improve. Her she is having breakfast. She has decided 2 meals a day are quite a nice idea with the weather turning colder and all that.
This is quite a long range photo - lot's of zoom, but to me she looks quite healthy.

And the cats are starting to become productive to - the last few days has seen a steady stream of dead stuff being dragged into the workshop. 2 or 3 rats in the last few days.

Sounds like a plan coming together.

First cat had assessed the situation, realised that it was far more than one could reasonably be expected to deal with & just waited for reinforcements to arrive.smile

Mates are thinking I am turning into a cat person.I keep telling them NO, but they don't see to be listening. smile

Secretlyquitepleased with said cats, and quite fond of them (andmyspacebarisnotworking), but maybe that's the beer?
Who can tell?

I thought this maybe the case. Behind the bravado you seem like a top guy and I'm sure you'll make a great slave to your cats wink

Cats can be incredibly individual in their character and are often hard not to become very fond of.

The human-cat relationship is founded on respect. You respect them; as a reward they ignore you. Which makes you respect them more. When they do happen to head in your direction (1 in 360 chance) you think they love you. Weird isn't it...

Pahr, that's nothing, found 6 of those dead in the garage only yesterday.....

More seriously, yes, they all seem to have settled in well. All eating well, and have recently been de-fleaed and de-wormed. They are universally looking healthy with a good shine to their coats.

Not all is well with though. Had a problem with a customers clutch the other day - changed the clutch, and took it for a drive. Slight squeaking when pressing the clutch. Got out, had a listen, nothing obvious. Back in the drivers seat, looking for squeaks, and other bad things. Still couldn't find anything.
After repeating this for 10 mins or so, Grebo activates himself off the back seat, squeaking for tea. furious

Bit of a thread update for those interested (and in fact for those not interested either).

Grebo, the cat with no tail has alas expired - the tail job seemed to cause a problem with her waterworks and bowels. She became progressively more and more reluctant to eat, over a period of 2 weeks or so. She then started weeing everywhere, all over the floor in little puddles, and every time she went to sleep. After seeking advice, I changed the food, and even hand fed her roast chicken, but she did not want to eat. Was taken to the vets, where they found her to be seriously dehydrated, and even more seriously constipated. Reluctantly it was decided to put her to sleep. weeping

So the other day Grebo's replacement has come. Mid grey all over with white belly and white feet. No name yet - Grebo didn't seem such a good one in the end. thinking about Mouldy?
Has been homing in the workshop for a few days, but has been very vocal about being in the cage. Since I'm not working in there over the weekend,I thought I'd let her out. (Not sure this is a good idea). I'll prob put her back on Monday, as I suspect she does not like the noise much.

Any other name ideas?

Sorry for your loss. At least you tried to give her some love and affection and she didn't spend her last time in a cage in a rescue.
