weeping Poor little Scruffy & poor you

But what an amazing life he had with you! love

I beleive Scruffy was sent to pave the way in your hearts to adopting again; you watch & in a short while you will see adverts or have some sign of another cat(s) needing a home - it (they) will be a present from Scruffy to help heal the hole that he leaves.

I'm so sorry absolutely the right decision but so hard all the same. 3 years ago today I had to say goodbye to my little Ren cat. I lost 3 four legged friends within 7 months, Ren was the first, they were a horrendous few months frown, many of us here know what you are going through right now, take care.

We are taking down his climbing trees and the like, it's sad to see them but the space they leave is a very visual reminder. The house feels oddly empty and tomorrow I leave for work early and I know I'll look to see him looking at me and yawning good morning and he won't be there physically
But things are as they must be

So sorry. But at least he knew love. And his soul will travel with you through eternity, kindred sprirts.

So sorry for Scruffy, I got the mods to start this page for times and events like this.

He has left a big hole in your heart and house, Scruffy will be choosing your next master shortly.

Be ready to welcome them as you did Scruffy.

Your house is not destined to be bereft of his spirit, nor that of his chosen follower.

I wish you all well.

Bugga. So sorry for your loss. The little beggars certainly worm their way into our lives (and I wouldn't have it any other way).

I just wanted to say thanks for the replies from you all. You did genuinely help in what has been a painful time. We still aren't out if the habit of expecting him to be around, but I guess that will lessen but I don't think it will ever disappear which is just fine by me
Thanks
Barrie

No worries, Barry, that's what we're here for.

No sign of Scruffys selection, yet?

No sign yet, we won't rush, we are still going through the grieving process. But I'm sure there will be a cat in our lives sometime in the future
Cheers

When I was 13 my mum promised to buy me a dog (we had always had dogs but I was to get my own one) so off to the shelter we went.

I chose a lovely dog called Toby, lively and fun, and decided he would be the one. As I went to confirm this to the shelter, I spotted a collie cowering in the corner clearly terrified and miserable and the words just tumbled out "I want her" to much incredulity as she was so different to Toby.
So she came home with us and as soon as we walked in the house, she transformed into this happy confident dog who adored me. 4 days later she was unwell and the vet confirmed Parvovirus and 4 days after that she died in our arms. We only had her 8 days but they were amazing so she died in a loving family. This was the thought that kept me going and still does a few (ok, many, many) years later.
Your Scraggy's days were numbered anyhow, you couldn't change that but if you asked him how he wanted to spend his last days, I bet he would have said with you. That has got to be the biggest compliment.

It's getting a bit dusty in here...

We suddenly lost our big 19 year old moggy earlier this year, still keep thinking I see him out the corner of my eye when I pull up on the drive

Read the whole thread.

At first, I was like, awww, how friggin' perfect.
And then with the illnesses coming and going, and finally FIP, I did genuinely feel really sorry for you / Scruffy.

So sorry for your loss. Health is such a lottery isn't it, but you did all you could. A hungry stray has just moved in with me and seems healthy enough, but I'll get her checked over at the vets and up to date with the vaccines etc, and hope that regular feeding and shelter is all she needs to get her weight up to normal.

This was when we got him back from Spain and it to me he looks as if he feels safe and can just totally relax and sleep for the first time in his life
