The OH has just rung and is on her way home with a poorly hedgehog.

Options to feed it: -

dry dog food : fish flavour james welbeloved.
pork pie - would be daughters lunch tomorrow
various veggie stuff that probably wont be of interest

Any other suggestions?

None of the above !!

See if you can find a worm/slug or two in the garden and find contact details for your local ' hedgehog lady'.
Most towns have one !
Your local vet will have 'her' number !!

The likelyhood is that it will not survive the night.... Sorry !

Also, if you have other pets, keep the hog WELL AWAY.

It IS riddled with fleas and maybe ticks.

Good luck to both you and the hog.

A jam jar lid of fresh water is also a great idea. Nothing deeper. wink

We're currently feeding our resident hedgehog on wet dog food - Cesar. I think cat or dog food is ok. Don't feed it milk/bread or any other processed food.

Can you find any snails or worms in the garden to feed it?

There's some info here:

found some mince at the back of the freezer smile

water provided.
Hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and hog in cardboard box.

I think it is too small to hibernate.
Barely moving - hope that it will warm up and eat, but I think you may be right - not sure its going to survive.

We looked after a hedgehog that was underweight, we fed him on wet cat food (not fish flavour), he lived in a large guinea pig cage over winter. It was quite a lot of work cleaning etc (hedgehogs are not particular where they poop...anywhere will do!). When the weather got a bit warmer (April I think) he was put in an outdoor run and then released a few days later.

Good luck.

Survived the night and is looking quite a lot better for food and drink.

I've arranged to take him/her to the vet this afternoon - I'll see what they say.

Just dropped him off at a Hedgehog Rescue centre.

He was 190g so well under weight for hibernation. Vet said that he needed constant heat as well from heat pad or heat lamps.

Certainly much better for 24hrs of being in the warm (constant hot water bottles smile ) with food, I dont think he would have survived if the OH had left him where he was.

Did some research and found a hedgehog rescue place in Ripon so drove him down and dropped him off with a donation.

Hopefully he'll be OK.

Good man!

As others have said, the population is on crisis, so you did a very good thing there.
