I was told Lebowski would only use this Golden Sand litter (it's not cheap) I've tried a few but for me/him I now use the wood pellets. They just smell like fresh cut wood and turn to fine sawdust when wet/used. He is however, fussy about his tray. He will only use a very large open top lipped black one, despite having purchased various different coloured and style ones. Weirdo.
Our Boris has one of these:
enclosed cat litter tray
and we use Tesco or ASDA cheap Fullers Earth type of litter. It is more or less odour free except when he has a real window rattler in it.

I always used to find the Tesco "premium" clumping litter brilliant for controlling the odor. Had to stop using it though after Sophie got obsessed with digging at it frown Since then I've tried a few different options and the only one I've found she doesn't dig at is the Bob Martin Felight stuff - if either of mine drop a honker and don't cover it up (my Birman is rubbish at covering!) then a quick shake of some fresh litter over it sorts it out. There generally isn't much urine odor day to day either since it just seems to soak into the bottom layer of litter. The flipside of which though is that when you are doing a full litter swap the stench is truly eye watering! Which reminds me, I'm due to do a full change on both trays tonight hurl

My two Arabian Maus are a nightmare for bathroom smells and they both love scattering the litter all over the bathroom - its a fun game - so to save my feet stepping on horrible sharp bits I swapped to...

...The Worlds Best Cat Litter

Seriously, that is what it is called. You don't actually have to do a full tray change either...! Its a bit more expensive to buy but each bag lasts me about 3 months (for 2 cats). And it actually does what it says on the bag.

At some point during the night our beloved Chester passed on while he was sleeping. A loving companion to me and my better half since he was twelve weeks old we are both pretty devastated. He was only eight years old and such a beautiful lad, he will be sorely missed both by us and his sister.
Please excuse the picture heavy post but it kind of matches my heart right now.

A dear companion who has gone before his time.

Thanks to all. We were away in Wales for two nights and it was our catsitter that found him. frown We got 'the call' about half an hour into our return journey. If you got flashed or chased by a mondeo towing a caravan between north wales and bolton... sorry.
We are obviously going to miss him terribly but both of us have taken consolation that he went in his sleep and didn't appear to have suffered at all.
We have many happy memories with our time with Chester and a huge number of photo's and videos.
My main concern (apart from a very distraught mrs Reb) is now his sister. she was in the house with him all last night. She seems to have accepted it as she isn't fretting around the house looking for him, shes not being any more needy or cuddly than usual. I've never had sibling house cats before and they have been together since birth. I'll be keeping an eye on her over the next few days to make sure she's not getting stressed.
Once again, our thanks for all your good wishes.
