Sorry to hear that Ben, at least the little one was warm and cared for.

My wife and I volunteer at a rescue and even now, after doing it years, it feels horrible when we lose one.

You'll be there for the next little waif.

That's very sad. Poor little soul. I got a call night before last. Poor young kitten brought home by an 18 year old whose mum just wouldn't have it in the house. Thankfully a home was found for her, else I fear she'd have gone the same way.

Please neuter your cats. Painless and they recover so quickly.

Lot's of sad news on here at the moment, so I wanted to just inject a little bit of cat humour/joy.

I was reading an article on the history cats have with humans here.

https://www.thecollector.com/history-of-cats-in-hu...

Generally they were regarded as a good thing with their ability to control vermin. However as with all human stupidity, they suffered through the religious declarations of them being aligned with the devil.

The really interesting thing about this was that monks apparently knew of their worth to keep vermin under control and pretty much ignored the papal decrees. As a result they were depicted in illustrated manuscripts of the time.

This one just made me laugh a lot.

(Top left if you can't immediately spot it hehe)

My late and much missed Boris had a similar opinion...

As did a visiting cat who appeared one day, came in and enjoyed a fuss, then left never to be seen again!

That to Papal decrees!

...upon which the old man said 'I wish I could do that...'

And the owner said 'If you ask hm nicely he might let you'.

My cat has just helped me eat a chocolate eclair.

We had a bit of a scare with Snowy today.

One of his canines (felines?) was sticking out, so either cracked or loose. Luckily the vet had time to see him, though we were worried he'd need to be put out to extract it, he's 19. The vet went and got a small pincer thing and out it came, phew.

My dear old friend Buddy, gone three years now, had broken all of his canines by the time he died aged eighteen. The vet told me it wasn’t uncommon for older cats. They forget they are not as strong as they used to be, and go leaping off walls only to discover their front legs won’t hold them when they land, causing them to face plant right into the floor.

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

If the vet had tried that with my old Siamese the vet would have felt the power of the rest of her teeth, she was a vicious cat. My old Sphynx Indy caused puncture wounds to the vet that meant a hospital visit for him after the vet tried to burst a hematoma on his ear, the super hard bubble of blood exploded and spurted in a line over the computer the walls the ceiling the vet the table etc, then indy turned his head and got him on his hand. Whenever we visited after that the cat was muzzled. The only cat the vet had ever had to do that to. I have a photo somewhere of indy in the muzzle.

We lost Louise this morning, a week shy of her first birthday. We keep them in at night, when I went looking for her first thing I couldn't find her. She either escaped last night when we had visitors or our Ukrainian guest may have let her out accidentally when leaving for work.

2 lads in a van stopped when they found her on the road just around the corner and called us.

Thelma now lives on alone...

So sorry to hear about this. I know at first hand how tragic this is and how you must be feeling. If you need someone to talk to, please reach out.

Devastating. We are 8 weeks in, and still heartbroken.

Thanks Semmelweiss, unfortunately I was preparing myself for this day since they started leaving the garden. I just had a feeling.

We are all too used to losing a pet in this house after losing 4 over the past 2 years (3 long term and one young) and now this. Sad times.
