We also have a Shih Tzu, a more lazy dog you couldn't imagine, 5 minutes in the garden, and she's done for the day. This guys going to be a shock to the system isn't he.

He has already worked out how to get on the sofas.

I understand this is a favorite place for longdogs.

It looks like the breeder lied.

They said he was house trained, and good on the lead.

They lied on both accounts, we would still have taken him, but wish they had told the truth, as who knows what else they lied about.

Tbh I wouldn't have expected a 14 week old pup to be properly lead or toilet trained, even if he was at the breeders it was misleading of them to say he would continue it in a new environment.

A lot of whippets are reluctant to go out and toilet in bad weather, my first whippet back tracked on toilet training because of rain etc, I put a coat on him before letting him out and that worked a treat smile, Bryn my current whippet doesn't get quite so bothered by the rain!

He'll pick lead training up quickly enough, may be worth trying a decent harness, always used them for my whippets. (Bryn was let off lead at the park on his very first walk after his vaccines so he didn't get wound up on the lead, I think it was 2nd walk for Jimmy smile)

It'll come good soon, to be fully toilet trained though can take upto 6 months, whippets aren't the fastest breed at it!

bex, thank you.

Our other dog is a Shih Tzu, and a harder breed to toilet train, you couldn't imagine.

We knew he would still need work, but when you are told he's made a start, you don't expect to have to start again from the beginning.

I will try the coat idea, as the rain today has put him off.

He will grow into his coat.
