Hi guys,

Our pump in our pond is playing up, we purchased it last summer and it has been running fine but the last couple of days we have gone out to feed the fish and see its only a trickle coming from the filter.

I turned the pump off and pulled the hoses off the filter then turned the pump on. The water gushed out so I thought the filter was at fault. I cleaned all of it out and plumbed it back on and sure enough the flow was back to normal. However 10 min later it was back to a trickle.

This time I pulled the hose off with the pump still on and its hardly shifting any water at all.

Any idea why it only holds pressure for 10 min before going into safe mode? I cant see anything clogging the pump up (although to be honest I am not a veteran keeper of fish but merely inherited them with the house)

Have a look at the pick-up side of the pump and any hoses or strainers, possible it's picking something up which then falls away when you turn the pump off. Flow then normal until the the thing is picked up again.
