Somehow I seem to have been convinced we need to add a puppy to join our two dogs, two cats and 3 year old child, so today we trundled off to view a litter of 10 puppies.

Half an hour later and we've agreed to home this little dude. We collect him Friday.

He's a Bridlington Whippet x terrier with a bit of chihuahua just to mix it up a bit.

In theory he should grow to be similar to one from the previous litter that looks like this

This will be my first experience of a puppy but have been around dogs my whole life. As mentioned earlier we have two other dogs, Louie and Millie, brother and sister which my other half has had since puppies. They are 7 now, I've sort of inherited them.

Really looking forward to having the experience from the start. Hopefully I can encourage him to become a bit of a trail/running doh, which would be cool. Our 3 year old will hopefully also enjoy the experience. Any hints and tips I should be aware of?

Chewie is a year old on Saturday and has become a really lovely dog. Puppy training was invaluable and whilst he still has moments, mostly he is well behaved. Many people have commented on how good his recall is, as these dogs are know for their selected deafness. It took a while and a proper telling off, but all is now good.

Unfortunately Chewie he has lived up to his name and has eaten patches in the dining room and hallway lino which I've had to replace! Hes also a little smaller than we expected, not that this matters. I wouldn't be without him now, love him to bits. Hes grown from the little pup above to this lovable monster. Bedlington Whippets are great dog, and they love sleeping upside down smile

I've managed to train him to come running with me too, so not only does he get daily walks off the lead in the forest he goes out once/twice/three times a week depending how I'm feeling. He's also incredibly quick, I think he might have a secret turbo fitted, as he has a fast run and then he hits boost and practically flies through the air. Its amazing to watch!

Great dog. A real pleasure to own, despite the floor thing....
