Pigeon Disease Like Myxomatosis ?

Just found a pigeon on the lawn - hardly moving, blind with large brown pustules on it's head and 1" wirey bits all over it's body.

It looked very similar to a rabbit with myxomatosis.

I put it out of it's misery but wondered what had happened to it.

They can certainly get pigeon/avian pox, not sure about the wiry bits unless it was matted/bald feather stubs.

Another dead one today - can't be sure it had the same symptoms as the dog had eaten half of it before I saw it.
