They do only feed on carrion - they're only a third the weight of a buzzard and can't possibly lift something from the ground.

Also, despite how cool they look, raptor beaks are not designed for attacking anything. They are feet first in every example from Falcons to Eagles - I would be very very surprised if they went for a cat....amazed even, seeing as your average moggy could probably seriously fk up a kite. They just aren't quick enough or powerful enough to risk tackling a cat. Need to be heron size and power for that kinda thing

Bizarrely it's more likely to be blackbirds if a bird at all as they're pretty hardcore about defending stuff.
