That is a brilliant photo,ours are not quite so free range but do have a small orchard to themselves.
I would agree with Gretchen go big we are on our 3rd coop now,having started off with just two,we now have two rhode islands,two grey hybrids and a light sussex(the other sadly departed).

Why go big, why would you want more space? Presumably for more birds but why would you want more birds if you mainly got them for fresh eggs in the first place.

Are you Hartpury/Highleadon way by any chance? I'm in Upleadon and will be after some (read 2 or 3, that's single not thousand!!) chooks next year once we are a bit straighter. If you are where I think you are, I think I might be able to see your sheds from my back garden!

I'm in Tibberton/Taynton so I doubt you'll be able to see my sheds as that's a few miles away. But still.... small world hey as that's only a 10 min drive at the most!

I'm more than happy to sell 2 or 3. I rear my own from day old chicks and I always order in a few hundred extra to sell to the public in dribs and drabs. I usually put an advert in the local paper as well when my point of lays are ready.

I will have birds available last week of Janurary and then again in May/June.

Thanks for the info guys. I got the keys to the new house Friday so will hopefully have a few chickens before Christmas maybe.
