Cordless vacuum cleaners (pet hair)

Any real world experience of ones which don't force a remortgage, yet do work and work rather well?
Have been looking at the 'Vax H85-GA-P18 Gator 18V Pet Handheld Rechargeable' for around £55, but there are cheaper cleaners minus the word 'pet' in the title just as there are more expensive ones minus the same word.
Not sure if you need a "pet" one as such, but I have never used one regardless.
It's only going to be used for those quick sofa / rug cleans due to our two cats sleeping in various places day to day.
