My fish changed colour

I have a 55 gallon cold water aquarium in my home office containing 3 carp-like fish, 1 Oranda, 1 Black Moor and a sail-fin plec. All have been living happily for about 18 months and have grown as expected (plec, exponentially)

Of the carp-like fish, one is orange and the other two were an attractive bronze color. I say were, because one of them is morphing to a yellow/orange color lately.

Is this normal? Does what I feed them influence their color?

My brother in law is a fish expert and he said this is pretty normal for the age of the fish.
