Removing a large clock from high up the front of one of the buildings at work last week we were confronted by 4 spiders. Not like anything I've seen before. They were pretty big by uk spider standards and displayed a more aggressive stand than you would expect from your usual British spidey - rather than run back into the brickwork, they were intent on seeing us off and made a point at moving towards our hands/tools and not backing off.

Took some pics but only one is vaguely in focus:



So, what were they?

False Widow spider?

I've had a few of these in my house.. the have a messy haphazard Web.

False widow is what I thought too.

I'm usually ok with spiders but they were horrible.
