Have to say I am really moved by all the messages about Cooper. Thank you ….. it’s really appreciated and just reiterates PH is alright!
The vet man who came out to put him to sleep was superb; we even had a condolence card yesterday from the company which almost set me off again (ok it did set me off). I realised that was one job I could not do!! Company is Final Rest in Havant.
Cooper was cremated yesterday. Me and the Mrs are having a difference of opinion about what to do with the ashes … I think scattering on a headland … let him run finally run free perhaps in Maenporth or preferably Coverack where we used to live. She wants to keep the ashes with us. Daughter wants some in a small vial on a necklace! We shall see!
The best antidote for the grief is the fantastic pics in this thread… they truly mate our best friends!
Cheers everyone!

We're probably going to leave Misty in a bit of woodland at the beach she used to go batst crazy running around. Although I did wonder if it'd be more appropriate to have a little box on the landing to trip me up every morning....

Yes, a good vet is a great help, when we went through the same some years back our vet sent us a packet of forget-me-not seeds. These are flowering in our garden just now and this morning my son asked "what are those flowers", so we had a little chat about our old girl and the great memories we have of her.

For what it's worth, I'm with you. Let his ashes go where he can run free forever. You'll always keep the memories of him in your head. The vet man who came out to put him to sleep was superb; we even had a condolence card yesterday from the company which almost set me off again (ok it did set me off). Whilst away at kennels, Snoopy managed to jump over 6 foot in the air and catch his paw on the top of the fencing and cut his main middle pad open. They took him to our vets and they had to sedate him to put a few stitches in. Not the news we wanted when we landed in New York as he did it on the first afternoon!
So a battle to keep it dry and clean now - luckily he only licks it now and then and had a protective boot overnight etc so as to not have a cone of bravery on wrecking the house lol
He still sleeps like an idiot though:
Hans on the other hand just takes it all in his stride - professional snoozer:
