Marf said: motco said: Very handsome cat, but why call your cat 'cat'? I must admit you're the first person who's twigged that Neko means cat in Japanese. I think it fits her well, I've always said black cats are like essence of cat, so "cat" in another language seemed apt I had a cat called Ebi once. For those also in the know about Japanese, Ebi means prawn, and this was because I rescued him from the street [he was pure white but covered in a gloopy tar/glue-like substance], and all I had to feed him, while a friend went to cat some cat food, was some dried shrimp. Was funny going to the local Japanese McDonalds and seeing their Ebi Burger on promotion. Nooooo, Ebiiiiii!

Bob, mid kill: Blurry, since the light was low, but you get the idea... I maintain he only sleeps on my bed in order to get first dibs at the corpse should I die in the night

It's a mouse, honest! There are stables next door and the mice get fat from eating the horse fodder.

This week I'm cat sitting for my friend whilst she's on holiday. This is Woody, who is around 8 months old, and very docile. He seems to have taken to his new surroundings very quickly, and seems very happy rolling around on the floor and investigating everything in sight His friend Buzz (pretty sure I have their names the right way round) is older, but I'm not sure by how much. He isn't taking so well, and has spend most of the time hiding. He doesn't seem scared, as he will still let you stroke him, but just doesn't want to come out. Hopefully it will wear off in a few days. The cut on his neck has been treated by the way. His reluctance may have something to do with how he jumped up onto the 3rd floor window frame, which meant I had to grab him and prise him away. It's also necessitated the introduction of an emergency cat barrier around the window

My brother has just got a new cat. 5 months old, pitch black, and called Merlin. Being pitch black, it is pointless photographing him, as he appears as a silhouette no matter the light, so I drew him instead.

@ Negative Creep - Ours was sat on the top of the open window yesterday trying to get at the blue tit chicks in the eaves. Most disconcerting if you're sat outside underneath.....

Unfortunately my amazing cat guard didn't work, as evidenced by the near cardiac arrest I suffered at 3am this morning when I woke to find one of them hanging out the widow I can't have the windows closed in this weather, so can anyone think of a way I can have it open without them trying to get out, including when they're left here alone?
