He seems to have settled in nicely. You can tell us some of the back story if you like.

I have started a thread about him but he is a rescue from Cats Protection. He is a 4 year old British Shorthair. He was given to them because the previous family had small children and also building work which was making him stressed which had made him ill. He is quite skittish at the moment but very friendly. I only got him on Monday but he seems to be settling in quite nicely so far. I have been keeping him in a spare bedroom and he hid for a few hours on Monday. Yesterday he became bolder and now sleeps on a shelf in the open despite having purchased 2 beds for him!

Late last night when I went to check his food and litter tray he escaped out of the spare room and went all round the house before going back in to his room.

Lunch for Bob. He eats whatever he catches - although shrews are left - only leaving its guts for me to tread in.

Much like ours then (although leaving half a mouse behind front door was a bit special - smeared)

biggrin Ours is the same, he never brings them into the house, just leaves them on the doormat either half chewed (always the top half missing - it must taste better than the bottom half) or else just not touched at all. We always have to check the mat before stepping out the door!!

Isnt there something in the mouse intestine that tastes bad for the cat? Possibly the liver? Sure I read it somewhere

Either that or your cat is sending messages to the mice community. Like the guy in Hannibal who built the Totem pole of dead bodies

Adding a tin of tuna to the diet every couple of days has reduced the bodycount for us, but it's still a healthy toll.

Smeared? do not click while eating...

One of our Bengals, peels the mouse and crunches the head but leaves the rest.

Our adopted moggy eats the whole lot.

Good effort - I see your box cat and raise you waste bin cat. She was asleep in the bin but the flash woke her up.

After a long spell away from cat companionship we picked up these two chaps from Battersea Old Windsor around 3 months ago.

Bob & Harley (as he was a fat boy when we got him). They are now well settled in and after a change to a good diet and a bit of supervision at feeding times Harley is trimmer and Bob is now a bit bigger and filled out. They are much bigger than our old boy, it's almost like someone slipped in a couple of extra vertebrae into their backs making them very long cats.

We lost the battle on collars with them as they had them off in minutes and every time we replaced them, it was back foot jammed against the collar and with a shove the safety catch gave way. We've admitted defeat with that but they are both neutered and chipped. For big lads they are really quite athletic, a 5 foot standing vertical jump seems to be nothing to them and a couple of nights ago Bob caught a fly in mid air as it buzzed across the living room, full karate kid style. I was so proud of him smile

Harley is much more friendly but I do feel that Bob often looks down on us with a very disapproving stare, especially if dinner is not served according to his timetable.

I've forgotten what a damp paw at 5 in the morning is like !

One last one from the last really cold snap we had this winter. I wonder whether we spoil them or not scratchchin and yes, that is his own blanket. It was either that or big cat sneaking under the duvet early in the morning
