I wish I'd taken a photo, but I saw a couple walking a beautiful pair of Bengals in the outskirts of Swindon Tuesday night.
Anyone else walk their cats? (My moggies enjoy a turn around the block with me and small child, and a gin, on a Friday night! I am mad cat woman. )
I'm going to take mine out, eventually. Once his mate Jonesy (moggie) starts going outside, I'll take Alfie (Bengal) for a walk sometimes. When it's quiet. And no one sees me... So I rescued this this morning:
One stunning looking Bengal. Apologies for poor pic.
He was sat in the road next to the kerb, not moving as cars were going past beeping their horns at him. So I stopped to try and at least move him but he darted under the nearest parked car. Having seen he didn't look in the best of health I nipped home for a tub of treats to tempt him out and before I even had them out of my pocket he'd come out from under the car and was whinging that I wasn't getting the lid off quickly enough! He was properly ravenous but seemed to be having a bit of trouble swallowing them, so that, combined with the fact he was dangerously underweight and was obviously a bit delirious meant taking him to the vet was the only option.
Vet checked him over to find he had jaundice and was generally unwell so they took him in.
They called me a few hours later to say he was chipped, but the person on the chip had sold him to someone in my area a while ago and that person hadn't bothered updating the chip's details! Honestly, who wouldn't do that for a normal moggy, let alone a Bengal?! Anyways, this woman only had an email address for the current "owner" so waiting to see if they claim him. Otherwise we may well end up with a free Bengal! Always wanted one, just hope the other three don't got stroppy about it!

Vet called me this morning to say he went downhill badly last night so they x-rayed and found he was full of fluid and liver tumour so they decided to put him down. Whether or not that was because the owner hadn't been found at that point I don't know but I probably would've stumped up the cash as I was looking forward to claiming him.
That said, she called again this afternoon to say the owner had since called them & the cat had been missing since monday (I'm hoping that meant the previous monday since if he'd got that bad in 24 hours I find it highly unlikely he was in the best of care). She said he was grateful I'd picked him up though & his last few hours were a lot more comfortable than roaming the streets waiting to die.

Thats so sad but at least he did not suffer any longer than necessary and his owners did not have to go through never knowing what had happened to him.Vet called me this morning to say he went downhill badly last night so they x-rayed and found he was full of fluid and liver tumour so they decided to put him down. Oh and a virtual beer for you for saving him and being willing to stump up some cash to see him right & give him a new home if that was meant to be.

In nature, a cat will wonder off to find somewhere to die. Perhaps it knew it was time.Centurion07 said:

True, but I don't think that was the case with this one because he came out immediately I got the treats out of my pocket and he was meowing & purring quite happily.Love the little black one.
I have a very soft spot for Black / Black & white kitties.
I read somewhere that the numbers of those coloured cats abandoned has increased as they don't look good on pictures (selfies) as they can't be seen properly.
Makes me so angry.
I had a black cat, Charis, she died when she was 6 from a brain tumour, and her brother, Taliesin is black/white and now 15 and I couldn't ever imagine giving them up as they didn't take good pictures...
