How long have you had him?
How have you introduced them?
Have you tried 'drugs'? As in Feliway/Pet Remedy diffusers, Zyklene/KalmAid?
Is it constant or do they have periods of being in the same room without it?
Sadly, some cats just don't like other cats and nothing will pursuade ( ) them otherwise, but you can usually get them to tolerate each other with patience.
Took Mum's cat 6 months to get used to living with other cats again, even when it was cats he'd liked before. (He stayed with Mum when my brother moved out after a couple of months staying with them during a hiuse move. When Mum died, my brother moved back in to look after Dad, with the cats that had moved out).

To be fair we've not had him long enough but he is SO vicious to 2 of the other 3 we're seriously concerned that there will be an injury. It's so bad that one of the other cats just hides all the time Really gutted as I'd have him over any (indeed all!) of the other 3 since he's a real 'blokes cat' (steal from The Who he's meaty, beaty, big and bouncy) but that's the way it goes. How have you introduced them?

I'm assuming they are all fixed? If not, fix 'em!Then
Try separation for a couple of weeks again
Get the diffusers plugged into all the rooms they use
Feed them the Zyklene on their food
Swap litter trays around so they get used to the smell of each other, ditto with cat hair after grooming.
Then, when your cats show an interest in seeing him, get a travel baby gate (they have mesh rather than rails) so they can see & sniff each other through. When the growling stops, you can start letting him out under supervision again...
Or, you can just let them fight it out until he's asserted dominance fully. He's unlikely to kill any of them, but I'd not recommend that course of action!!

gutted - looks like the big maine-coon cross will have to go back to my friend, not only does he look like a bruiser he just will not get on with the other three cats - and by 'not get on with' I mean constantly growls at one (which I can live with) and viciously attacks the other 2 - to the point where there is literally fur flying
Sounds like a really stressed cat to me.
If the cats have not been spayed, then this is one thing that I would deffinately make a High priority on the To-Do-List.
If they dont have high places the house where they can see everything from High up and above, then you should make some. Best thing really is if they can walk around a room High up - gives them confidence.
Put him in a room and introduce him to one cat at a time. Play with them when introducing one of the others to him. Give them treats, so they get the feeling that this is ok.

Meet my stray. He has been coming in and stealing food for about six months. I have only just managed to gain his trust as he used to bolt immediately. Now he gets fed with my other two who don't seem bothered by him at all and has basically moved in.
I have had him checked, not chipped or snipped and put posts on cat protection lost and found but nobody has come forward, so I have named him Bandit as it seemed quite appropriate
He is a big bugger with a massive head and a very gentle nature, he is also a polydactyl.

Never really had pets but now I find myself catering for two new arrivals. And when I say 'arrivals' what I mean is 'two strays that just moved in without a by-your-leave and now I find myself catering to their every whim'.
The first is Bertie. We think he was abandoned, as he was chipped and we reported it but no-one ever came forward to claim him. He likes snoozing next to me in bed and then humping my pillow when he thinks I'm not looking:
Then there's Dora (the Explorer). She's a farm cat who decided that she was sick and tired of living outside and never getting any affection so she's moved permanently into mine where she gets love bombed and treated like royalty.
Love 'em to bits.
