There must surely be a mistake somewhere, 25 years is extraordinary for a cat, and if true would almost certainly involve close and frequent veterinary support.
Ours was 23 when she went last year, and our other one 22 a few years back, so very possible. Glad this puss is ok though.Ace-T said:

A vet with experience could look at the cat and have a good guess at its age. It doesn't look old in that picture though.Munter said:

My cat has a habit of bringing small furry creatures in through his cat flap into the basement. There's a 'fridge and a freezer standing alongside each other down there and I have a mouse trap permanently set in the very narrow gap between them up against the back wall. This is so that any live prey that escape him and hide in the basement will, sooner or later, be trapped by said trap. It is inaccessible to the cat because the gap is too tight so he won't get his paws hurt.
Earlier today I found the trap at the foot of the basement steps (up to the house) which is some fifteen feet from the normal location of the trap, and on the floor next to it was a gastro intestinal tract (guts to you!) from a rodent. How the hell did that happen?

I think you forgot the fact that a cat's paw can grow to 3 meters long as soon as food is aroundEarlier today I found the trap at the foot of the basement steps (up to the house) which is some fifteen feet from the normal location of the trap, and on the floor next to it was a gastro intestinal tract (guts to you!) from a rodent.
