So, we (the boss) decided on calling him Ted.

Seems to have settled in well!

He's great!

As is often the case with these breeds, if you want to keep his tears from staining his cheeks, Eye Envy works well.

If you want haha!

Left is on the other foot..

In cat related news, the breeder has just gotten in touch and offered us his brother.. Can't quite decide whether to take him in or not.

We've got a new addition to our family:

Snowball is approx 2 years old, we picked her up from a cattery in Fife on Sunday 13th Sept, they had 8 or 9 cats that were looking for homes and it was a difficult choice - we wanted to take them all home!

She's had her jabs and has also been neutered + microchipped, she just started to go outside a couple of days ago but doesn't go far. She's quite a nervous cat, this is our 3rd cat and this one (seems to be) taking longer to settle in than the last two. She's had a wee 'nip' at me, the wife and our daughter but we are going to give her plenty of time to settle.

The Vet thinks part of the nervousness may just be due to the short gap between our previous cat passing away and Snowball coming in, she'll still be picking up the scent of the old cat and be wondering when it is going to appear.

We were also told that she'd been given worm treatment before we took her (we were told all cats looking to be rehomed from the centre we got her from are given this) but Snowball seems hungry ALL the time. She doesn't have any signs of an upset tummy, again the vet reckons this may calm down and since we've no information on how she was treated by her previous owner/family we've just got to assume that she was perhaps mis-treated or not fed very often before we got her. Snowball eats her entire sachet of wet food as soon as it is put out (she is on THREE per day at the moment) and also has a seperate bowl of dry food that she nibbles at occasionally, plus her water bowl.

Both the cats we've taken in would eat everything you put in front of them to start with. I think it's until they realise you can provide more food than they can hope to eat. I'd guess Alan stopped always bolting his food down after about 6 months.

Shira the Toyger (real breed)

edit : Just over a year old and 5kg. Only eats protein - no cat food whatsoever.

A ridiculous bundle of pent up energy.

She plays fetch as much as she can. Her favourite is "feather" - which is a plastic stick with a string and a long gone peacock feather. She loves retrieving it from whether it is thrown and then depositing in the wife's slipper!!!

I'd wonder why...

But I'd also take him, it's always much more fun with 2 and you don't feel quite so guilty leaving them alone...

I wanted to take him home when we got Ted anyway - he seemed just as soppy as Ted is - but I said I'd get back to her.
A couple of days later someone took him in, but apparently the cats they already had were bullying him?

I am very very tempted, just need to consult my bank balance!

Two cats > 1 cat, simple. Twice the cuteness, twice the antics, twice the snuggles. Plus they'll keep each other company when you're out.

I think so. He looks a bit lonely in the leg photo; I think your hairy leg is being a surrogate cat... and you'll do them both a favour (the cats not the legs).

Matt - yes yes do it!

We were only going to get Indiana Jones (black smoke Persian) but as we were leaving Peggoty wandered down the stairs. She was about 4-5 months older than Indy and was her half sister. The breeder couldn't breed from her as she had a tooth genetically missing at the front so we were sat there deliberating which one to get so we got both.

Never thought two simple but mental little kitties could bring so much joy, attention and happiness over the years plus they kept each other amused

a slightly belated 'goodbye' to Sasha:

A week ago I got that horrible phonecall from the vet that they had identified him from his chip. Run over earlier that evening. weeping

I know we all think ours are the best, but he was an exceptional cat: the most talkative, attentive and sociable beast you could wish for. His darker side was a hunting rate I've never seen before: I suspect the local mouse population is bouncing back from his predations already!

Very sadly missed. Thankfully his sister seems to be adjusting after a couple of days of confusion of 'where is he?'
