How old is s/he?

My cat used to love drinking out of the tap until he was about 6 months old or so, now he just looks at it.

Have you considered a cat water fountain? A bit of extra work around the house to change the filter on occasion, but might save you having to turn on the tap on demand.
We've tried a few of those - different models, for our Bengals the tap is the thing. They do drink out of their water bowl though so not a complete pain.

Our ragdoll drinks from the tap too. He is very insistent. He won't drink from a bowl at all.

I then caught him drinking from our dark, muddy pond. I rapped on the window to get his attention so he'd know he'd been caught. He just gave me a look as if to say, "Yeah, so what's your problem?". Little scrote.

Hahaha

Grady Gilbert (part ragdoll) sometimes imsists on drinking from the tap...other times he's happy to share with the dog biggrin

Just take the filter out - job jobbed!

Edit - FWIW our Bengals love this one which works as well (better in fact) without the filter and honestly - they're cats, they don't need to drink filtered water any more than I do!:

I believe the filter on the one we had wasn't so much for the cat. It was more to protect the pump from clogging with fur etc that falls in the water.

Ah, good point. On that one ^^ the filter is after the pump in the cycle so presume it's there for the cats / hard water. Am expecting to have to de-scale it every 6 months or so but nothing else (fingers crossed!)

Hmmm...might have to get one of those fountains. My friendly feline can get a bit fussy about her water - she'll get rather reluctant to drink out her bowl once it's got the seemingly inevitable kibble in it (don't ask me why/how but it only ever gets one in there??) and as she's on about 85% dry food she does need to be drinking a lot.

Odd - we had one that looked very similar to that (identical barring the black bits in the well and logo) - and the filter was pre-pump and needed regular de-furring. It also got slimy quite quickly despite water being changed daily.

We also had on where the water welled up in the centre and ran down the outer dome which also slimed up quickly.

As best as I can tell the water goes from the holes in the tub, into the pump which is housed at the base of the funnel, then up the funnel which houses the filter and then cascades out the adjustable nozzles.

Will open it up tonight to see condition as it's been running non-stop for nigh on 6 weeks now. One good thing about Bengals - very light shedding so I'm hopeful it won't be too bad!

She's another cat that will drink from running taps, grotty puddles and my bedside water glass but never from the specially purchased fountain.

FWIW - pump is definitely pre-filter on this model and the interior of the funnel and under the base was spotless. Gave it a good clean anyway but no issues at all with hair / slime etc.
