Just been chuckling away to myself at my desk over that one.

Did you put the toothbrush in his mouth for that photo? He looks a bit p1ssed off... haha.
No , he'd been in the bathroom and helped himself to that , he's looking p1ssed off because I was asking for it back.

Some of the pictures don't really do him justice. Most of the dead animals dangling from his mouth are from 2008 , he was really obsessed with tracking and catching things once he'd picked up their scent , now he's happy just to flush them out , he's mellowed quite a bit and only had 2 birds in total this year.

Gone deaf in the last year or so due to a couple of strokes, but she can still run and her personality's just the same. We now communicate using doggy sign language!

SWIMBO and I have been talking about getting a dog for ages, but neither of us are at home enough to look after one. However, that should hopefully change in a couple of years. As we're both dog people we've been discussing for years what dog we should get.

We have both grown up with dogs, I've had a Dalmatian and a terrier cross when I was growing up, and she's only ever had Border Collies, and there is no dog on the face of this earth that's anywhere near as good (or so she tells me!!). So when we get a dog, that's what we are having...

So for the last few years I've been putting forward other dogs that we should get and threads like this are always a great excuse to convince her that there are other dogs that we could get.
I've always fancied one of these, but her ladyship doesn't like short haired dogs, so I'd managed to convince her that a flat coated retriever would be a good choice:

However, I'd love one of these little fellas, I can't imagine there is ever a dull moment with a Springer around!

I thought I'd even managed to get her to agree to the holy grail of dogs when I found this picture of Huskey puppies..

But no, I showed her this thread and enter little Jinx, the cutest thing this side of anything! All bets are now off, we WILL be getting a collie dog!

My Uncle's Bulldog, Alfie - looks mean, but soppy as hell: -

And with my little one, Jack. Not a dog, but just as cute with twice as much energy!

By the way...despite the image that the caravan portrays, I am not a pikey!! hehe

Jesus, that pic fills me with dread.

Our springer (Steve, pictured above somewhere) was utterly gorgeous but just totally fvckin wired. Really hard work he was. Are they all like that????

We gave him a home after he spent the first year of his life living in a garden shed, no real excersise or stimulation. This may be the reason he would regularly but completely unpredictably kick off with Pete (also pictured) and cause some nasty damage.

Anyway, he's on his own in a loving family now and doing really well.

I really miss him though, especially chucking his ball into lakes, rivers, the sea or any body of water and watch him tirelessly fling himself in there at 30mph, over and over again....nuts he was.

Great dogs Springers, but potentially hard work.
