parakitaMol. said: Just to say that my wirehair Dachshund who had fear aggression has made a MASSIVE improvement after seeing the second behaviourist about this. He never had any bad experiences and it developed gradually over a year from simply being a nervous pup.
Once you find a good behaviourist who can offer you a clear strategy - perseverance should overcome it.
(mine wasn't separated too early, nor did he have a bad experience - he left the pack at 12 weeks, too late really, then we had the very bad snow then Christmas/New Year hols and we could not get out to meet enough other dogs, 3" legs don't walk on deep snow and ice!... it was a lack of early socialisation. When he finally met other dogs at puppy class he was about 19 weeks - way too late!)
He would posture & growl & snarl the moment he saw an other dog, even in the distance, then lunge and snap, like having a massive YoYo! couldn't even walk past another dog in the street and he was also starting to do it to humans - anything he was fearful of - thankfully we saw an excellent behaviourist (Ross McCarthy) this has now stopped, he will now let other dogs sniff him although I will never be totally 'off guard' with him with a small child or anything. Bloody hard work to correct it but so worthwhile! More reasurance - thanks. He's been taken away by the dog behaviourist for 2 weeks of training as he bites when punished. He also bit the behaviourists trouser leg (not skin thankfully) yesterday. Part of me thinks he's doomed but I hope not.

A couple near me rescued a cross parson terrier which had issues of biting people and going for other dogs. They have had one to one behaviourist for it and it is comming on quite well now.It does not like a pat on the head and had awful scars on its neck when they got it. It will even now take a treat from me when we meet on our walk. The couple have had it for 12 months and it has been quite hard work they said but have persevered with it. I hope all goes well with you little dog. How old is he?

Yep - law of averages. At least one has to be any good! Just keep pressing the button.

Ours love jumping in. One of them is a bit toy obsessed though (perhaps too much) and will do anything to get to the toy before her sister, whether thats on land or in the water it makes no difference - she must get there first.
