I am still hoping to earn enough to afford a horse! or pony (pony would do nicely!)

I used to work with the race horses but gave it up this year mainly because I couldn't live on £3.10 per hour :/
That said I miss them greatly, never am I riding a racehorse again though! nutters that they are.

I ended up doing stud work, have done everything their from foaling mares, to shovelling ste! (don't we all)

So i'm still wishing and hoping that I can have a pony soon! being 5ft 1 a pony should be enough a nice welsh cob would be lovely!

I have been offered 2 stables and a field for free only drawback is its 25/30mins drive away so it wouldn't be easy to get their every morning before work =[

was thinking about loaning one in the summer any tips guys ?

Have you considered Horse share Hannah?

There are quite a few folk who are strapped for time / money and wouldn't mind sharing some of the burden. I've never done it personally as it's never appealed to me but I'm sure it could work quite well with the right person and pony/horse.

For my sins I've had horses all my life, do a lot of showing, mainly in hand now rather than ridden with my homebred babies!!

This is Winnie - 13 year old homebred Anglo Arab

Cody - 18 year old Part Bred Arab/Small Hack, now a broodmare

The next 3 are all Cody's babies.

Mildred - 6 year old small hack, I sold her as a 3 year old and she has been very successful including being 2nd at Horse of the Year Show last year.

Archie - 3 year old riding horse

And finally Mabel - yearling hack

we have 4 at home:

gigs - 17.2 chaser - won a few times over fences - big engine - big fun over the hills and jumps for fun - got bucked off him in november - thought i was going to need to phone air traffic control

ted - won over hurdles - raced 38 times i think - 18 years young and know his own mind

looney - raced a few times - good turn of foot - spooky....

cobweb - does it all - and much tougher and brighter than the namby pamby thoroughbreds

just getting the horses back out hacking - get all 4 of them lined up at the bottom of a decent hill with gallop potential - and it's as much fun as a 500bhp/ton car or a bike on a trackday - bit more dangerous - also all make excellent pub transport

Why does Cobweb have a hood on?

in a case of bad timing - he had been clipped a few days before snow arrived - his neck hair has now grown back to winterbear status and he no longer has a hood - he and looney live out in a field shelter the other two live in at night

Nanctol Fantasy smile

My mother is/was (retired now, just judges) a fairly well known owner/producer, from ponies through to hacks, cobs, riding horses and hunters. Her cob, Kempley, was one of, if not the most successful at HOYS. IIRC he won it 6 years on the bounce and her hunter Dual Gold, won it about 5 times smile I'm harking back to the 80's/early 90s for those though.

Rode show ponies until I was 16 when I found women girls and beer smile

This is my Standardbred "Scotty", 24 years old. I rescued him from the racetrack when he was 8. He has been an amazing mountain horse. He is gentle and has a wonderful sense of humour, best horse I have ever owned.

Hi all,

This is Sower Hill Cream Sherry, one of the ponies which I bred, out of a lovely old dun Connemara cross mare.

My partner has a couple of Shire mares and also a coloured cob which we drive in the summer.

Never had my own but enjoy riding. I used to look after Poppy, a 17.3hh ex advanced dressage horse. The most comfortable/responsive horse I've ever had the pleasure of riding.

I went for a hack a few weeks ago at a local riding school, got a surprisingly good little mare:

i once went out on a hack in Devon.....me and the Mrs and a load of pony club horrors (sorry, girls)
I got given a dainty arab called Coronel...prob only about 15 hands and slim...looked a bit silly under me.....turned out it was an ex race horse....one of the single most amazing experiences of my life in terms of raw power, just amazing

What i really want is an 18+ black stallion - but I imagine it wouldnt be as fun as id hope, and probably terminal!

Welcome!

Any more pictures of the Shires? I would love one of those, there is a chap just near where we keep our horses that breeds them.
