I've heard that some kids see dead people, but having Bengal Kittens talking to you? Bizarre.

And why just that breed?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was expecting a Dr Doolittle type thread

It's true, they are interfering little buggers. Lost count of the number of times we've found them in the shower with us or locked in a shed or garage. One of them likes accompanying the caretaker of the local school on his rounds much to the amusement of the children.

I have a four year old Bengal and he is a bit mad. He whales and screams rather than meow's. He chews things like a dog such as shoes, chairs, hand bags. He is very friendly and has never scratched or bitten us. I think he used to get a bit board until we bought a dog for him to play with.

Taken a few years ago he's a bit fatter now.

I have a very large male Bengal who is the most affectionate cat I've ever owned - a real cuddle bunny. He is quite a size and eats a lot, he's also so friendly and nosey he visits several neighbours has been stuck in places a few times. He's a silver and so lots of white fur everywhere - climbing has now ceased but till he was about 3 would regularly climb curtains and walls.... used to like sitting on top of kitchen cupboards.

Brilliant cats - just brilliant.

Be very careful with Pets4homes, lots of unscrupulous people frequent it. Make sure you do your background checks and visit a few times to see kitten with mum and how they are being reared and socialised.

Thanks all very good reading.

At current we are just browsing as money isn't in place just yet, but we are fully subscribed to not scrimping and buying one from a reputable source.

Just the question of White or brown now..

We have a 6 yr old female Bengal, I think the males are more affectionate but she certainly has a lots of character. She makes very unusual loud sounds when she wants feeding or to go out, we have two other cats both male and she wants to be boss and is a bit territorial. Overall great pet but can be a little demanding

Don't forget to consider cross breeds (2 for the price of one wink)

These 3 adorable creatures are Serengeti (cross between the Bengal cat and an Oriental cat with a dash of Siamese & sometimes Mau)

We've got a half bengal half long haired tabby - she's 2 years old now and has all the characteristics mentioned earlier - into everything (especially boxes and shopping bags), likes to be up high either in trees or wardrobes. Also has a fondness for sitting in the sink, and loves playing with or being in water.

The ginger tom is kept well and truly in his place!

oh why did I have to find this thread!!!

I spent a long time researching Bengal kittens last year, but came to the sad decision that just now is really not a good time - we have a 13 year cat who is tiny and wouldn't stand a chance against a normal cat never mind a Bengal, and we have an indoor bunny - which we thought was a bit like an all you can eat buffet for a Bengal (potentially)

Of course now logic is flying back out the window and I'm googling like mad again

How good are Bengal's with children?

We lost our cat to old age a year or so ago(tabby). He was fifteen years old and my partner and daughter(4 and a half years old)miss him like mad still so we have decided to get another cat.Is the Bengal a good cat to get(my daughter is used to cats so wont tease or mistreat a new cat),or would another breed be better??

Ours are brilliant with the kids. Occasional;y a claw may catch a child when they are playing with the cat, but they have never lashed out. My daughter is always picking up and cuddling our younger Bengal and all is well.

Following the advice here I've reserved a snow coloured boy from a pedigree breeder and pick him up in a few weeks, once he's old enough to leave his mum.One thing that does concern me is that I have heard that these cats are sometimes stolen and my intention is to eventually let him have the run of the house and free access outside through his catflap. We are going to have him microchipped but has anyone else heard this or am I worrying when I shouldn't be?

On Reccomendation I went to see typha bengals. It's fair to say what the chap didn't know about bengals wasn't worth knowing. He started bengals properly in the uk 20 years ago, has more grand champions than you can shake a stick at and generally had some of the most vivid amazingly patterned cats we'd ever seen.

We will be getting a boy hopefully early march. He assures us that this litter will all be show qaulity in terms of coat! Very excited!

No hard sell at all, quite the opposite, and it really is nice to meet someone with passion.

Ended up saying yes to two bengals, 6 months old, a marble and a rossett. Male and female from same litter.

Was thinking about two boys from a new litter, they were amazing to be honest, but they were out of my budget really, and we've ended up getting two awesome cats that are 4 months older for the price of 1 of the new borns. Pick them up next weekend we hope.

Recommend typha bengals

Picked up our little guy at the weekend and now he's settled in he's proving to be quite a little character! He runs round like a mad'n,climbs the curtains, tried to eat the crust off my daughters steak pie this afternoon, makes a lot of noise and generally causes chaos all over the house. He's very affectionate and cuddles up to us when hes not causing mischief. Its nice to have a cat around again after a break of 18 months or so since our last one died of old age.

Crappy cameraphone pics.
