Any marine keepers out there? I'm currently in the process of trying to set up a pico reef I think it's around 12/13 litres so pretty small for a marine will post a pic if it works :P

I use 'Filter Aid', I'm sure its by interpet, works well for me to make the water clear.
I get it from Pets at Home but I'm sure most places will sell it.

That is stunning, do you mind me asking where you got it from?

For some reason my water seems abit cloudy. Any ideas why?
What filtration system are you using? under gravel, internal or external filter?

Without any filtration the water will take longer for any sediment or minute air bubbles to clear.
So what are you using?

here's mine, not the best pic and kind of mid clean (well i started yesterday and got bored so not yet finished)

stock is 8 columbian tetra's, which my local shop cannot believe i have got so big as they are all around 2.5" in length and full bodied.
1 black phantom (used to be more suspect that's why the tetras are large!)
1 cuckoo catfish (at least i think thats what he is)
1 blue acara who doesnt like me and whenever i sit in the sofa next to him he goes jet black!

1 common plec (only a baby and about 7 inches in size)
1 baby lumphead as my friend has 2 adults and this one was getting bullied in his tank, need to get him a tankmate really.
used to have some clown loaches but the last one went to fishy heaven a few weeks ago. looking for something nice to replace them with, currently thinking dennosoni barbs and a few different gouramis.

not as pretty as some other tanks but i like it.

if i can get a decent photo of the syondontis i will post it but they all appear camera shy!

Here's mine - a 180l tank housing 8 x Dwarf Puffers, some Kuhli Loaches, Otos and a few shrimp.

And a couple of the puffers - around 2cm long

Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh
Just got some bolivian rams, and you wouldn't believe how quickly the acara turned feral. Took out both eyes of one of the rams and could see straight through. Fish was still alive so he got fed to an eel to provide a quick death and managed to save the other three, they went back to the shop who are holding them until tomorrow. In morning he is having the acara off of me and I'm taking the remaining rams back.

Can't quite believe it, I know he's a cichlid but has never been aggressive to anything else let alone with the ferocity shown today! So now I have lost another centre piece fish and the tank is looking more empty by the day.

Think I might try some silver dollars.

For a "quick death" you fed it alive to an eel?

That is sick.

Explain to me why it was sick? The fish was not with the eel for mpre than a second alive, and was quite clearly not going to make it and distressed. Normally I will freeze them to humanely kill, but seeing as you could see through the hole and the fish was distressed a death within a matter of seconds was far better for it.
Just to clarify its a big eel and went down in one go, no hunting at all.

I would just point out that there is a question as to whether or not this is humane at all. I would urge that you look into it a little more before using it to despatch fish.

Quite right, a few seconds of being consumed alive, while blind and unable to even see the threat so as to try and escape (whether or not it was itself dying) is the way to go.

That I have to even try and explain why that was a sick and quite disturbing thing to do is every more worrying.
