And what sort of barb is that Toyless? The colouring etc looks like a Pentazona (an underrated fish IMO) but the stripes look too wide?
Rhombo barb, less obvious than a Pentazona. Which I agree *are* very underated.

Barbus Rhomboocellatus to give it its correct title.

dont have a testing kit frown i put him in last week after a few days of the biube tank going clear,

he was fine swimming around very colorful very playful...

then my lovely baby brother hadnt seen me home for a few days so decided to feed him.........just like he would his old gold fish......so a good couple of pinches of flakes, i didnt know till that night, when i said something about how much food was in the tank....

unfortunately it was all behind media, gravel, rocks, air tube, plants and couldnt get to it frown so its dissolved over the last few days, anyway came in today to find him laying on the bottom of the tank.......so ive done about a 40 % water change hes now either floating at the top, or laying at the bottom, and inbetween hes jerking around as he swims frown

I've had a fish tragedy. I had 2 little Pleco's amongst a few other fish in a tank, been happy for a while now, and yesterday one went missing. I've just had to fish him out. I'm seriously gutted. frown

Had him about 2 and a half years, from the same size of the chap you have there - about 9" from nose to tail at a guess.

Out of interest, does anyone have any idea of how to move house with an aquarium? Should be interesting trying to shift him (I have a large net and a bucket at the ready!(

I have done it a few of times
once was about 120miles from Kent to N/W Hampshire..then a few local moves
take as much water with you as you can in buckets with lids on and large plastic barrels, I left about 1/4 in the tank too and put the fish in very big dark coloured bucket, all went well.......and don't forget to drive smoothly

I have done it with a number of marine tanks.

Have plenty of water. Get numerous Bags from your LFS, rubber bands etc.. How big are the fish? I got a 50G plastic bucket or two and when I got to the new place I transferred the fish into them immediately, along with heaters and powerheads to circulate the water. That gave me time to set up the new tanks and didn't stress the fish out so much.

I did the same as Jas, used 80L plastic bins from B&Q/Homebase and left them in there for a couple of days because it wasn't possible to set the tanks up any sooner than that. That was three tanks. My biggest issue was getting the water up to temp - pick up a few spare heaters from ebay/AC beforehand.

I should have my CA cichlid tank in a reasonable state in the next few days - I've just added a wild Rotkeil Severum (who is an absolute beauty) so when he finds his feet I'll post a few photos. As it stands the stocking consists of a Sajica, Rainbow cichlid, Nicaraguan cichlid (who is an utter cow bag) and the Rottie - and 5 pim pictus. Not sure if I'm going to stick with that stocking - the Nic is making the Rainbows life rather difficult, and given the choice the Nic will go as the Rainbow is a fantastic little character. I may consider an alternative to the Nic (EBJD being my preference) but I'll be doing a small rescape in the next few days so I'll give it a week and see how things are then.

My 3 favourites for no real reason, I have more interesting fish, just something about these few..... The leopard Plec... (rarely comes out of hiding in the day, so hard to get a pic!)

And my South American Cat...(anyone know more about this species? I really like this fish....)

And, although very plain, I like this Bolivian Ram ....

I must have had mine about 4 years now, and he was tiny when I got him... In the last 9 months he has grown a lot... Starting to get quite big now

Cheers, yup, looks like the same... He is great to watch, spends most of his time swimming around upside down!

Rope fish in 2nd (community) tank

Anyone know what this type of "shark" is called, I have had a few in the past and have grown quite large.
I've always thought them to be "dolphin shark" but nothing seems to come up in google.

Got a small tank with a few of these little guys in it
