Top work! and excellent pictures too!

I'm trying to get my e30 recommissioned so I can take her abroad next year- it was 2006 the last time she set foot out of the UK..

Need to get some proper miles on her- possibly take the burd to the Eastern block-show her some of the places the e30 already knows

Great pictures and really inspiring words. Thoroughly enjoyed reading, thanks.

One question I have got though, did you have breakdown insurance? I found it difficult to get for cars over 10 years old to cover European travel.

Quote from the top of the OP at the top of page 1:

The other thing I thought worth getting (in case the harbingers of doom proved correct) was Euro break down cover. Suffice to say, trying to sort this for a 26 year old car is quite difficult as most policies have their cut offs at 10 or (at most) 15 years old! Eventually I sorted something via MoneySupermarket with a company called First Call. They offered annual Euro cover for less than it would have cost to extend the AA cover for Europe for the two week holiday.

Thanks for the positive comments. Glad to know these kind of write ups are appreciated. smile

The E30 is a very decent car imo. Modern enough for a daily driver (electric windows/mirrors/decent heater etc) but retains much retro charm/cool.

This year it's also been up and down to Scotland about 5-6 times including a tour around Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, Glen Coe, Fort William etc. Last year we took it down to Cornwall (much warmer than Scotland).

I noted the recent request for the PH Carpool and fired off an email a week or so ago but never heard back. frown

If you bring the e30 north next year, gimme a shout- Hopefully the old b20 will be awakened from her slumber by then

Planned to do a similar trip this summer but coming back via Switzerland/Black Forest/Germany/Belgium in my E36 M3.

Unfortunately work (or rather the lack of it) got in the way.

Reading this has inspired me to try again next year!

Sensational trip. The best threads on here are people's Roadtrips around Europe. My best holiday ever was chaps RoadTrip around France for 2007 RWC. You are inspiring me to organise something again. Love the classic Beemer too

Wow - a fantastic euro trip report - thanks for taking the time to share! Amazing photography also, I was sure the kit list would have included a full size sensor equipped dslr and some quick lenses! I have a few ideas for my future ones now... :-)
