I really love these type of threads, would like to do something similar myself at some point.

Excellent stuff OP... Pic 6 of day 5 though do you know where you took that, looks familiar,
somewhere around Rousset/ Mont Sant Victoire ?
Thanks.

It was a village/small that we took a detour to via the Gorges du Verdon. I can't remember the name off the top of my head but will remind myself from the guidebook and get back to you at the weekend.

Inspiring thread, we did a long trip in May and I feel like trying to pull together some images. Interestingly when looking thru our shots we have virtually the same image of the Bon Bon window display in Annecy!

Missed this the first time round, great write-up and pics, have been road-tripping around the US for the best part of a decade now, maybe it's time I moved to holidaying around Europe!!

Superb write up and excellent photography. Just planning a trip for this year. Choice of a Mini [ One D ] or the 840. Drove to Spain in the 840 last year so might take the Mini this year and spend the money saved on better places to stay.
Did you book hotels in advance or wing it?

In advance. Busy time of the year, didn't want to take the risk. Moreover, after a long drive last thing you want to do is traipse around a town/city trying to find a hotel to stay (especially with a car). Cheaper in advance too I'd wager.

Used booking.com for most, worked well (and have used it plenty since). Booked with having the car in mind - on site carpark or something local.

Forgot to do this and don't have access to the guide book at the mo. Apologies. frown

A gentle bump for this thread as a tribute to the E30. smile

I sold her on Saturday and was sorry to see her go. 189k miles and still running strong. Hopefully the next owner will use the car properly (once the rust is sorted!).
