Hiring a mustang in California
Discussion
Well I've finally booked. We've had to compromise due to budget so we've gone for a cheaper option for the first week so that we can have the mustang for the pacific coast highway in week 2.
Everyone's suggestions have been really helpful, now I just hope that when hertz say guarantee this model they mean it!!

As stated by a few of us, the Hertz "guarantee" is a bit ropey. They were happy to match it for us when we produced a printed email receipt of the order, but it still had to be approved by a manager. Go prepared and you'll be fine.Everyone's suggestions have been really helpful, now I just hope that when hertz say guarantee this model they mean it!!

Has anyone used Dollar rental for a mustang?
Looking to book for August to pick up in Vegas for 17 days - Hertz are apparently "sold out on this pickup date". Any advice?
Sorry can't comment on Dollar. Looking to book for August to pick up in Vegas for 17 days - Hertz are apparently "sold out on this pickup date". Any advice?
When you're in Vegas ask about deals, offer and failing all else try bribery. It's the land of the back hander.
I'd advise booking in advance and via Europe though. Seems much cheaper than doing it on the day over there.
I had a hertz guarantee for the vette - which isnt really a guarantee as it says or equiv but then the vette is the only car in its group.
Anyway they still didnt have it and gave me a Camaro SS convertible - full spec HUD, paddles, heated leather, teasmade and cuddly toy + a tank of gas, free auto tolls and said they would deliver the vette as soon as it came in. True to their word they phoned me the following morning and evening to arrange the exchange.
TBH I enjoyed testing the SS but loved the vette.

Yeah I realise it might not be 100% guaranteed but they are the only company who appear to offer to guarantee a particular model. Ill probably contact the branch to see if they can confirm the availability of the mustang A very big Thank you to Steveo3002, What was a trip to San Francisco for 2 weeks in Sept with a V6 Mustang is now a trip to San Francisco with a Vette………. My quotes for a vette were all over £1k and ended up at less than £500 after Steve’s guidance on this web page. Steveo2003 even took the time to take a call from me and walk me through the booking……..Absolutely fantastic! A very big Thank you to Steveo2003.
Well, we didn't get a 'stang or anything fancy. The fact that we were dropping across the other side of the country must have factored into this, plus we wanted something big and comfy for a cross- country road trip.
Ended up with a Chevy Tahoe LT V8. Awful auto box, but just the thing for >4K miles!

Hello all,
I'm currently trying to find an interesting car to book for my holiday in just over a month.
I want to pick up the car at Sky Harbour airport at Phoenix on the 12th of April, and return the car in Vegas on the 16th.
Hertz and Avis don't have any of their interesting cars available.
I was hoping for a nice V8 muscle car, something like a Camaro SS.
Any help would be very much appreciated, as I was planning to drive over from Phoenix to LV instead of an internal flight.

I think you've got two problems that are stopping you. Firstly, picking up and dropping off at different locations tends to limit hire options. Secondly, you are trying to book at relatively short notice, so availability is going to be limited.I'm currently trying to find an interesting car to book for my holiday in just over a month.
