Help me plan a driving holiday in France.
Discussion
Hi
My Girlfriend and I are hoping to get away for a week or 2 and thought it would be perfect to drive around France.
Our Journey would start in Rosslare, Ireland, Where we would catch the ferry to either Cherbourg or Roscoff.
Roscoff might be best as it seems fairly handy for Le Mans and Disneyland, Paris.
Where next? We want to see beauty, breath taking views, wonderful roads, great food and wine.
Distance is not a problem
Please help with some possible destination.
PS Is LPG readily available?

LPG is a plenty. If you intend to be at Paris at the start of your trip, then why not get across to the Alsace region and follow the wine trail http://www.france-voyage.com/travel-guide/wine-tra... Travel down and stop off at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cit%C3%A9_de_l%27Auto... . Then the alps are just round the corner.
When are you thinking of travelling? I would recommend heading south towards the Alps via Mont Ventoux if mileage is no issue, but if you want to drive the famous passes you'll need to wait until mid to late May to let the snows melt.
Straight down the middle of Bordeaux, swinging past Puy de Dome near Charade is also very nice You could take in Oradour sur Glane for some history as well if you're that way inclined. I also love the Carmargue area for a day or two as something completely different.
If she can cope with a car museum stop in at the one in Loheac on your way south from Cherbourg.
Oh I could go on..... I love driving around France!!

So many good options - like those already mentioned - but if you want to go to Le Mans and Disneyland then I would personally head over to the Vosges area after. Given the time you will have left I reckon you can do that some justice without driving mahoosive miles! Base yourself in Gerardmer for a good choice of hotels and eating/drinking places
We did Les Grande Alpes last summer and I reckon it needs a good week if you are going to get loads of Cols in and Annecy (and Mont Blanc etc etc).
The Vosges is a lovely part of the world with some great driving roads, scenery and pretty towns villages. Also you can get to the Schlumpf Museaum which is a massive bonus
