Emirates A340-300

Anybody with any inside info on these. I did read last year that they were being retired by the end of 2012 but I've just done a timetable search and they are still operational on DXB-CPT in November 2013!!

Was looking to go business class to CPT at the end of the year but the business seats on this aircraft type are the worst I've experienced in the Emirates fleet so wouldn't want to book if still in operation.

they have 16 A340, a 4 engine jet which are thirsty and towards the older end of Emirates fleet. However until the A380 and A350 come in to replace them they will be around for a little while yet! Whether they remain on the CPT route remains to be seen!

They are still using the A340s. If you go to book a flight on their website it will tell you what the aircraft will be so you can avoid the A340 and hope for the 777.

Just flew in their A380 from London to Dubai.

Incredibly quiet, spacious and comfortable. (economy class).

Fabulous aircraft.

Yes, I flew to Auckland and Perth last year on A380 and B777 respectively and both flights were great but definitely don't want to go on the A340 again.
