We're going on a ten day holiday to Crete at the end of March. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of things to do/places to go. We'll be renting a car and motorcycle between the 2 of us.
We're staying in Rithymna, which is halfway between Heraklion and Chania.

If you're interested in ancient history then the palace of Knossos is worth a visit. Day trips to Olympia also run from Crete via a boat to the mainland, and again, if you like that sort of thing Olympia is a fantastic place to visit.

If you have the time and the inclination Elounda is worth a visit, from there you can go to the island of Spinalonga , this was an active Leprosy colony until 1957 .....creepy or interesting ?

Zeus' cave is worth a trip for the drive up alone, vai beach is also worth a day trip.

My advice would be not to do any of the organised trips, hire a car for a few days and go it alone.

Gorge of Samaria - it is stunning, and certainly in March will be walkable (unless there is heavy rain!).

I'd forgotten about that. Yes, that's a really nice walk - I'd recommend that too.

Same here. Make sure you take good walking shoes though.

plataeu of lassithi is well worth a visit, bit of a climb by car if remember. Lots of the white traditional windmills, some of the villages are in a time warp, like 60 years ago and pretty too.
