Ok..I leave London on the 10.30am flight to San Francisco. Change planes and get the 4pm local time flight to Honolulu arriving 6.30pm local time all the same day. Return flight 06.30am flight to San Francisco..then catch the first London plane arriving sometime early the next morning. Ok i don't do that everyday..but i fly that every 2 or 3 weeks.

The seed has been set, will look into doing a stopover in Hawaii on the way back from Oz. Out there in September and this could well form part of my itinerary on the way back via the US. Thanks, I can see a massive hole in my budget. But then again life's not a rehearsal.

I went there on business (yeah, right ....) three years ago. Your previous posters are all correct :

a) Very beautiful, but still very American

b) A f***king long way,. I flew there by way of San Francisco (non-stop), then immediately by United to Honolulu. All on the same day ....

But to summarise an old chum from the USA : Worth seeing, but not worth going to see ....

Other respondents say there are better Pacific islands to visit. I agree ....
