Same in HK. Also means luggage is checked right through.

The LAX lounge is nicer than the lounges in HK and Air NZ have their own immigration people so it is painless.

The planes through LAX are newer than HK and have better facilities regardless of class. Air NZ no longer fly LHR -HK either. They codes are on CP.

Luggage is checked through either way.

I have done both journeys and LAX is now my preferred routing.
