I'm thinking of going Travelling around OZ for a year. Ideally I'll go out there and find work and stay for ten months meaning I'd quite like to book a return flight to keep costs down. However Does anyone have any exprience with changing a flight date? (just incase I can't find work or need to come home for whatever reason)

Cheers.

All depends how much you pay for it. The less it is, the more restrictions there are. Some airline sites give you 2 or more prices, and then range from no flexibility to full flexibility.

I would speculate it is cheaper to get a return ticket in the UK with no restrictions

Airline tickets in Oz are not cheap especially to the UK, comparatively speaking.
For example, in the middle of November to get back to the UK would cost approx AUD$1000 one way on Singapore/Malysian or AUD$1400 on BA/Qantas/Emirates.
