No wonder camping and caravan sales are on the increase! To go anywhere decent within the school holidays is circa £3k - 2 Adults and 1 Child (5 Years Old)

That folding camper is looking very tempting!

Have you thought about booking your own flights and accommodation? Could get you somewhere very decent for 2 weeks for the three of you inclusive of flights and accommodation at that price TBH ,

Just looking now, flights are £300 each!

Maybe I'm expecting too much - Only want to pay £500 each for a nice 4* all inclusive.

I have a folding camper. A pitch at a half decent campsite near Padstow and a nice beach is £450 this year for 2 weeks at the end of August, you get a piece of grass and power. Oh and the use of some loos.

It has gone up about 50% in 3 years!

Again it may be an option to book the flights yourself and a hotel on an AI basis separately. W have done this I the past and saved a fortune on brochure prices etc. how long you and to go for and where you fancy? Flights from EMA for you I guess? Also have you thought about self catering I.e renting a villa of townhouse/apt?

Depends on where and when you want to go. Look at Tunisia, they always seem to have relatively cheap AI deals (I'm looking at Thomson's website for June departures and there's lots for sub £500). Prices will increase if want/need to go during the school summer holidays.

School holidays is the kicker, you'll always pay a premium for them.

2 years ago, went to Florida for 2 weeks for £1700.

the Mrs father booked it all online, went direct to the hotels in the US and think he used expedia or the likes for the flights and hire cars.

Paying about the same for my Honeymoon this year for a week in Florida and a week in Cancun. but that was through a travel agent.

Edit, just realised you stated 4* AI.
are you particular about where you want to go? may be better/cheaper to go to the agents, if you haven't already, and say 'send me anywhere AI and 3*+'

often 4* hotels command an extra premium, and bump up prices during school hols to try and discourage families at the resort.
(I'm not in the business but a friend was and that's the info he gave me once when I asked him to look at similar for my Brother and his family)

Tell me about it. We have 2 adults and 3 children and it's a ballcrusher in terms of cost. All I can come up with is getting flights as cheaply as possible via Thomson or a similar "cheap" airline and booking an inland villa in Spain with it's own pool. Even in school holidays, these lesser wanted villas inland can be had for reasonable rates and you'll find most of the affordable ones on the coast have all been snapped up.

To be honest, in the heat, all my kids want to do is stay in the pool all day anyway.

Try www.icelolly.co.uk (although usually need to add £30 for bags and transfers PP).

They always seem to have some deals going smile

Alternative is to book your accomodation seperately ( www.booking.com ) and drive there if your in europe - we are doing this for our Croatia Holiday next month smile
