'Ring Trip Advice/Recommendations

Evening Chaps,

I have a week off work at the end of May and am considering taking a short notice flying visit 'Ring trip for a few days. As it is short notice, I would be doing the trip on my own. The plan would be to take the Mk1 MR2 and take the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge/Rotterdam and drive down from there, stay maybe one or two nights and then get the ferry home. There are 2 full touristfahrten days on the 30th and 31st May so I was thinking of getting the ferry there on the 29th and then the return ferry on the 31st.

Does this plan sound feasible? I'd probably only be looking to do a handful of laps just for the experience more than anything. Any ideas or suggestions for other things to do or see in the surrounding area would also be appreciated. Also, any recommendations for places to stay?

Definitely make sure you do at least 2 nights. I've done four trips previously including a one nighter there and it was nowhere near enough time. I would suggest 3 as, a) there's now more to see and, b) the room rates tend be be cheaper if 3 nights are booked.

I would recommend the Hotel Wilhelmshöhe, about a 20 minute drive from the 'ring but great food and full of other drivers usually. Jackie is a lovely lady as well.

I'd definitely recommend the Hotel Am Tiergarten.
We stayed for 3 nights (2 nights would be fine but as mentioned above, 1 night probably wouldn't be enough once you factor in the drive from and back to the port) earlier this year and it was ideal.
It's linked to the Pistenklause restaurant / bar which seerves an awesome steak (the pizza is good too) and the breakfast was pretty decent.
It's about 3 mins from the 'ring entrance but then anywhere in Nurburg would be no more than 5 mins away.
