Am i right in thinking that to get to the summit of Mount Teide, you need some kind of permit? Is that even if you are in the cable car or just if you are hiking up there?
Yup,, At the top you can have a small wander at the cable car summit station and thats it.

In the old days you could go right to the summit, When we last went about 3ish years ago it was all blocked off with no trespassing etc site of special something or other, From what i recall on the notice they have limited daily permits of some type available from a gov office somewhere on the other side of the island.
And the internet now

As above monkey park is great for kids as are Sian and Loro, we also did the Whale Dolphin trip from Adeje on the Freebird catamaran (Thompson) we had a great trip for seeing whales and dolphins but to do it again i would do as someone else recommended and go on a smaller more personal catamaran.

I stayed at the Bahia Principe in Costa Adeje last year, well recommended.

One thing you need to do, is scuba diving with sea turtles. I can't remember the name of the company or where I did it, but it was only a 10 minute bus journey from Costa Adeje, and cost roughly £60 Euros for a half day on the boat. One of the best things I have done, it was even better than scuba diving/snorkelling in the Caribbean.

Bit of a thread revival here but we have booked a last minute holiday to Costa Adeje in Tenerife for Whitsun week.

We'd like to visit Siam Park water park. What's the best way to book? On line, at the park gates or via the hotel? Does anyone have any experience of the standard ticket vs VIP/all inclusive tickets?

Cabanas look expensive (EU400 per day) for a family of four but would give us a base and if food is inclusive would be better value.

TIA

I don't but please, please, if you have a hire car, do not leave anything at all in the boot.
Even if your car is locked, they will nick it.
Twice bitten, twice shy here.
Watch out for pickpockets too.
Local Police won't care.

You can buy twin tickets for Sian Park and Loro Parque, this worked out at about £30 each for me and my fiancé on the exchange at the time, both excellent places ( i paid an extra tenner for the express bus to loro parque, definitely recommended as it takes a good hour or so off the travel time, being on the other side of the island ).
Theres loads of outlets selling them, if you're at a hotel just ask wheres best trusted, never had a problem myself. Adeje is pretty good area wise too, if you haven't been there before.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've found a website to advance buy. I'm not sure I'm saving much (the odd £ perhaps) but it looks reasonable and should mean we avoid queueing at the gate.

Yeah, the day trip to La Gomera was amazing - about 60 euros each for the ferry, full tour of the island and a decent lunch.

If you buy tickets in advance for Siam make sure you take some ID with you, they were really funny with us about it, despite no mention on the tickets or website. Also recommend some of those waterproof shoe things - you can't go down the slides in flip flops, and the queues will burn your feet. Awesome slides though!

Don't buy at the gates at Siam Park. Sometimes queues can be half an hour plus.
Tickets can be bought online and you receive a free burger from the restaurant that is in there but usually I just buy from the kiosks that are dotted around the place.
I usually use the kiosk at the top of the hill that leads to the each right next to Hotel Be Live La Nina/ HiperDino express.
There are seperate queues when you get to Siam Park for pre paid tickets smile

I think I paid 60 euros an adult for the Siam/Loro twin ticket with express coach last time I did it. Loro parque is brilliant but will have you out from 0830-1800. Perfect for kids though. Sea lion show is probably the best out of the Orcas/Dolphins/Sea Lion shows.

Another vote for gomera,
book it as a coach trip because there's not much more to do at san sebastian,
roads are a bit "interesting" in a coach though, but its worth the trip.

Those fred oslen ferries absolutely fly along, literally its like being on a motorbike

highlight for us was getting off back at LC and the sprinklers watering the plants at the port sprung a leak right in front of us. soaking us all, good fun.
