Ideas on Corfu resorts (or other Greek island ideas!)
Discussion
I've got some time off next month, and so myself and Mrs Chicken were just browsing the late deals to take us away to a Greek island.
We like the laid back nature of Greece, and so having already visited Stalis in Crete, the island of Skiathos, and Pefkos in Rhodes, we are now looking at trying another island. Skiathos is my favourite to date because theres an endless choice of good beaches, and at night the harbour, which was obviously there long before us Tourists came along, caters for all with its many Taverna's found in and around the back streets and Harbour front.
Our criteria for somewhere to go is:
Easy access to a good beach, a characterful resort (Pefkos in Rhodes was ok, but clearly created through Tourism) with plenty of choice of restaurants and chill out places in the evening.
I want a week away where I can enjoy the sun sea and sand through the day, and at night sample a Taverna and enjoy some drinks in a busy but not riotous resort. I dont want to be watching Brits staggering down the road smashed through Greek Cocktails so the likes of Kavos is definitely off the list!
We dont want it to be too expensive as we only moved house last month, so the likes of Santorini are out for this year at least.
Are there any places matching that description on Corfu, and if not, where else would you recommend?

Avoid kavos in Corfu!
We (family of 4) are going to roda beach in Corfu. Wife & I went about 6yrs ago before we had kids and it was nice (private beach, 3 restaurants on site etc and a town nearby if you want to get out.
As I say, we went 6yrs ago & we thought it would also be good for kids hence we are dragging two toddlers with us in a few weeks.

Like you I love the Greek Islands, never been to Corfu though so booked this place starting first week of July. Going all inclusive as I need a proper break, I want an iced rum & coke for lunch and a good book to chill with.

Kefalonia is great, very nice not over crowded beaches and some great local bars and Tavernas but been 3 times now so fancied a change.

Benitises is characterful and convenient for Corfu Town. We stayed at the Bella Studios a couple of years ago, which was cheap but had great staff and comfy rooms. They even found a special parking space for the Cayman! The local restaurants are good too.

Also looking for something very similar.
Would love to hire a little motor boat through the day and putter around, quiet beaches, and then a local taverna at night.
However we're planning this for after our wedding and need to fly either on a Sunday afternoon or a Monday.
Will watch with interest.

Just got back from a week in Paleokastritsa in Corfu and have to say what a wonderful little place it is, busy with day trippers in the day (but not overbearing), but lovely and quiet in the evening. Great places to eat but the scenery and the sea are just to die for.
A beautiful little resort that hasn't really been built up since the start of jet tourism in the late 60s/70s.
Hired a little boat as there were 6 of us, so went out round the island for a couple of hours and found some secluded empty beaches.
One place that a snorkel and mask are a must to buy as the colourful fish are just everywhere and the sea is crystal clear and a fantastic electric turquoise.
Temperatures last week ranged from 34 to 39 which seemed very hot and there were plenty of mosquitos which don't usually bother me, but got well bitten this time round.
Lovely, beautiful place. If you're going to Corfu, aim for this little gem, if not go there for the day.

This nice little hotel which was just across the road from the main (small) beach and about a three minute walk to the marina that you can see in the picture above. There was also a nice secluded cove just behind the hotel that the day trippers who came in by coach didn't bother with.
