Anyone work in/around Holborn Circus?

I need to drive up there in a couple of weeks, it'll be a weekday, getting there about 6:30pm, parking until about 11pm. What time do the metres become free or the single yellows not apply.

Anyone suggest any good places to park around there?

Thanks for that.

Parking metres are free after 7pm, so £2 for half and hour from half 6!!

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!

I paid £16 to park in Islington for 4 hours in 2009.

That really isn't that bad if you consider where you are parking.

I was thinking that. There are carparks back home (Belfast) that would charge £11 or £12 for 4 hours, so considering it's London it's not that crazy.

ETA: admittedly in a 'nice' (whatever that is) multi-storey, so I suppose it's not comparable.

Central London is a maze of CPZs. (Controlled parking zones). The rules in each CPZ can be different, including meters and yellow lines that may apply to midnight in some CPZs. You need to check your exact location to avoid being caught out.

This, even adjacent streets can have different rules and operating times, resident permit only areas and all sorts. You'd almost think they were trying to catch you out on purpose. Make sure to check and double check any displayed signs etc and if your heading into town for 6.30 ish make sure you don't enter the congestion charge zone before 6pm.

Parking at Thaives Inn hopefully, definitely free after 7pm.

Seat Leon Ecomotive, 99g, registered and congestion charge free woohoo

I sometime drive into the zone when I don't have to just to get my money's worth.

On street parking has recently become difficult round there as the underground car park on St Andrew St has temporarily closed.

OK, thanks for the heads up. What chance getting a metre spot at 6:30 in Thaives Inn ( just next to the Sainsbury's building).

Difficult to say. I am usually gone by 5pm when I go there, but usually try to park here:

Apologies for the long link, my Internerd skills are not quite polished up yet!

There used to be more spaces on the other side of the road, but they mysteriously disappeared a while ago. There isn't much other on street parking very nearby, but there is an underground car par a bit further along Holborn towards the station, and there is alsways Smithfield market which is about 10 minute walk away, you can often find my old jalopy parked in there!

There's an underground car park at Bloomsbury Square in Holborn. Usually getting a space is not a problem.

Lol awesome, if I had a zero\exempt car I think I'd drive around central London all day.
