Has anyone just nipped across for lunch in northern France and come back having seen a fantastic deal on the channel crossings?

Interested to know.

My mum does it frequently.

But she's retired so has the time to be able to go whenever there's deals on.

I'll go on an impromptu shopping trip if I see a deal.

That's all your inheritance she's throwing away. You should tell her it's not safe or something.

I took the other half on a day trip to Nice. We took the early flight out of Luton and came back on the night flight. A great day out and not wildly expensive.

Looking at doing a booze run soon. Well, a top down blast, why not fill up with some booze run. Was going to go this weekend, but obviously with bank holidays the pricing was sky high.

I think I'll sign up to their news letter.

All the time in my private plane with my personal driver in Paris and London. Oh wait, I'm poor. So, no.

Very cheap crossing on the Tunnel for the next few weeks. Maybe a Bank Holiday lull?

Yes, I've done this a few times. I'm only half an hour from the tunnel, so with a judicious bit of timing I can be driving on the wrong side of the road in little over an hour!

Have done it in the evening for dinner as well.

Have their restaurant prices gone lower recently?
I used to go to FR when the GBP/EUR was around 1.40 and it was very expensive then...

Yep - once when I got a particularly good deal on Speedferries I popped over to Boulogne for lunch... and bought a shed load of cheese and wine, too.

Went on a Lotus run aiming for Reims and back in a day (yes, really).
Got stuck in a French truckers strike, the car went pop, came home on an AA truck.

Title's not: "Anyone nipped almost to France for lunch" wink

Trivia: My grandfather was the 1st allied soldier to set foot on Jersey when WW2 ended. :-)
